With the many restrictions that wedding suppliers and couples have faced this year, the wedding industry has seen a dramatic turn of events. Couples have had to forego the big, traditional Irish wedding and instead think about how to host their day on a much smaller scale. Couples and wedding suppliers have collectively had to get their creative juices flowing under difficult circumstances, but the results have paid off. Lauren from LIT Photography NI, wanted to showcase just exactly how elopements could be done, and this laidback, bohemian elopement on Downhill Demesne, Co. Derry, is perfect!
For the beachy, bohemian feel I opted for lots of texture for the stationery design, with layered papers in neutral tones. The dried grasses that line the North coast beaches also played a focal point in the design, which I hand-illustrated for the blush accent card and elopement card. I like to incorporate nature into many of my designs, and so I pressed dried grass into the envelope’s wax seal as an extra detail.
Real couple, Vaila and Ross modelled for this shoot, and their fun personalities and love for one another shone through each image. LIT Photography has such skill at capturing beautiful moments and this image below would make anyone go starry-eyed.

Aside from the dramatic coastal backdrop with Mussendun Temple in the distance, Tones provided the cosiest setup which was perfect for this beach elopement, including an array of snacks for the newly married couple. Just look at that rug!

I hope this shoot inspires couples to put their hearts first when it comes to their wedding day, rather than the opinions and feelings of others. And it also goes to show what is possible, even in the midst of a pandemic!
